Packing light
For me, one checked bag not fully packed and one empty carry-on define packing light. Going to France/Amsterdam I kept taking stuff out of the bag, but it still was too full for all the cute French fashion I saw. So this time I have room for new stuff, and we better have time to hit the stores or the group will get sick of my clothing repeats. I'm hoping that, like in France, the smaller cities have interesting boutiques with items that I wouldn't find here. Having faithfully bought online from Boden for a few years, I'm confident that British fashion will deliver. York according to the guidebook has become a primo shopping destination for the whole country, or at least Yorkshire.

4 days and counting to London and more
This 2 week excursion to England (London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, the Lake District, York, Whitby), Wales (Snowdonia region), and Scotland (Edinburgh) gets the record for most expensive oil change ever. Art found out about this tour while chatting with a retired schoolteacher at Jiffy Lube. When I saw that it went to all the places on my UK wish list, especially Yorkshire where my favorite BBC shows take place, it seemed like fate. So we signed up, and I started my month-long class. Now we need to start packing (light) and reading more in the guidebooks Arlington Library supplied. This is a once over lightly trip, but I think we'll see some of the best reasons to cross the pond.
And it's warmer there - we can escape this relentless winter. It's time for cherry blossoms, not snow!
